Danry Vasquez sparks Mexican League brawl with sucker punch

Baseball brawls usually start with a hard slide or a plunked batter. This one started with a guy getting tagged out and deciding that wasn't good enough for him. Toros de Tijuana's Danry Vasquez got caught in a rundown against Acereros de Monclova, and instead of jogging back to the dugout like every player who's ever been thrown out at the plate, he turned it into a full-blown fight.

The fallout wasn't small. Four players were ejected from the game, and Vasquez was hit with an indefinite suspension from the league afterward. It's not his first brush with off-field trouble either -- he's a former Houston Astros minor leaguer who was released by the organization back in 2016 after a domestic violence arrest, so this isn't exactly a shock to anyone who's followed his career.

What makes it worse is that someone else paid for it. Reports out of the game say Monclova's Ryan Hernandez left the stadium in an ambulance with a broken arm after getting tangled up trying to respond. A rundown play turned into an actual injury for a guy who wasn't even the one throwing punches at first.

The Mexican Baseball League doesn't get nearly the U.S. attention that MLB does, but clips like this travel fast regardless of the league logo on the jersey. A sucker punch after a routine tag-out is the kind of thing that gets a guy indefinitely suspended and gets his name trending on a random Tuesday, and Vasquez managed to do both in the same afternoon.
