Portnoy gives Mike Mutnansky stock down for lost trophy

TLDR: Dave Portnoy named Barstool's Mike Mutnansky his stock down on Wake Up Barstool for losing the UMass-UConn rivalry trophy, days after UConn beat UMass 35-16.
Of all the things to lose, Mut lost a trophy. On Monday's Wake Up Barstool, Dave's stock down went to his own guy.

Would @MikeMutnansky be the first person in human history to have to move his family to a different state because they misplaced a trophy? Seems likely.
That's the whole charge, and it's right there on the screen. There was no big takedown and no ratings fight. A Barstool employee somehow got a piece of New England college football hardware and then didn't have it anymore. The Massachusetts guy who runs the company handled it the only way he knows how, by putting it on air. JeffDLowe took it further and wondered if Mut would be the first person in history to move his family out of state over a misplaced trophy. That's a joke. Nobody is packing up a U-Haul, but it shows you how the office is treating this.
The game itself wasn't close. UConn beat UMass 35-16 at Rentschler Field on Friday, October 23, and the Huskies ran for 265 yards to UMass's 53. It was the Minutemen's 4th loss in a row. So the Huskies won the rivalry game and still had people asking where the trophy went.
Mut's co-hosts piled on right away. Kayce Smith posted what she called the last photo she took before their show, and she framed it as the last known photograph, as if Mut were on a milk carton.

This was the last photo I took before our show. Who knew it would be the last known photograph. @MikeMutnansky
Honestly, this rivalry has always been cursed when it comes to trophies. In 2024, a new rivalry trophy called the Southwick Jug was supposed to debut when UConn played at UMass. It's named for the Southwick Jog, the little notch where the Massachusetts-Connecticut border dips south, and it featured a bean crock and 2 charter oaks. The UMass collective behind it ended its partnership the same week, the trophy never showed up at the stadium, and UConn coach Jim Mora said he asked for it after his team's 47-42 win and was told it wasn't being handed over. So 2 years later, the trophy goes missing again. This time it's on a Barstool employee.
What happens next is easy to guess. Until the trophy turns up, Mut gets reminded about it on every show, and every UMass-UConn game from now on comes with a joke about it. If anyone at Barstool has seen it, Mut would love a call before Dave's next stock segment.
