Mintz's boot saga becomes Barstool's favorite running bit

Mintz has been stuck in a walking boot for weeks now, and at this point the injury has basically become its own recurring character on Barstool's shows. Every doctor's visit, every whiteboard countdown, every eye-roll from a co-host gets turned into a bit, and the guy himself has fully leaned into being the punchline.

The latest chapter played out on 2026-08-12, when Mintz reportedly dressed up like it was picture day just to head into an appointment he was hoping would end with the boot coming off for good. Big Cat even fired off a congrats, praising him for 'healed in record time' after the resiliency he'd shown. Turns out that was premature.

That update torched a couple of real plans. Ohio's Tate reported Mintz had a Widespread Panic concert in Atlantic City lined up for the weekend if the boot came off — those plans got put on hold instead. By 2026-08-15, Nicky Smokes was following up on the same AC trip, noting Mintz had told him he was '80% no' on going, and it sounded like logistics, not the cast, ended up being the holdup after all.

Meanwhile the injury has turned into a full-blown bit on The Yak. Co-hosts have been mining Mintz's stories for content, with TJ reportedly running a soundboard underneath him during one taping to punch up the jokes in real time.

Someone sketched a portrait of Mintz next to a running countdown — 'Days until Mintzy gets boot off' — and as of 2026-08-15 that number sat at 28. Given how the last countdown ended with 'one more month' instead of a clean recovery, nobody in that office should be surprised if the number resets again before it hits zero.

For now, Mintz is the walking (well, limping) embodiment of a Barstool tradition: turn a coworker's bad week into weeks of content. The boot will come off eventually. Until then, expect more whiteboard math, more soundboard hits, and more premature congratulations.
