So why walk away from an organization now, with 31 innings of a 4.06 ERA and a sharp 37-to-6 strikeout-to-walk ratio at Triple-A this year? Simple: opt-out clauses exist so guys like Strzelecki, a 31-year-old journeyman with a career 3.44 ERA and 86 strikeouts across 77 big league appearances, can test the market right when contending teams are panicking about bullpen innings. Free agency in late July looks a lot different than free agency in March.

That's the real story here.
