Terrion Arnold is getting his second shot in the league, and it's landing in Seattle. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the former Lions cornerback plans to sign with the Seahawks, closing out a free-agent tour that also included stops with the Texans, Saints and Giants.
The backstory here is heavy. Detroit drafted Arnold 24th overall out of Alabama in 2024, trading up to get him after he tied for the SEC lead in interceptions the year before. He started as a rookie corner right away. Then in June, the Lions released him days after he was arrested in Tampa on eight combined felony counts of armed robbery and kidnapping, accused of orchestrating the abduction and beating of three men he believed had robbed his Airbnb. Arnold has denied any involvement through his representative and maintains his innocence, with a status hearing set for October.
Schefter's report also flagged the next hurdle: the NFL still has to decide whether to place Arnold on the Commissioner's Exempt List given the pending charges, which would let Seattle pay him while keeping him off the practice field and out of games for now.
None of this came out of nowhere for Seahawks fans, either. Arnold actually worked out for Seattle on Hard Knocks, with GM John Schneider shown weighing the idea of bringing him in before the team followed through.

There's also a locker-room angle. Jordan Schultz reported Arnold is close with Seahawks quarterback Jalen Milroe, his former Alabama teammate, who reportedly vouched for him as a person and a fit for Seattle's culture. That kind of internal cosign matters when a front office is deciding whether to take on this much off-field risk for a talented young corner.
Fans, naturally, jumped straight to the football fantasy. Pairing Arnold with Devon Witherspoon in the same secondary got the internet buzzing about how nasty that duo could be on paper — just know that's speculation running way ahead of any exempt-list ruling or actual snaps.
For now, Arnold's football future is on hold no matter what the roster move says. Whether he ever steps on the field for Seattle depends on the league office and, ultimately, a Tampa courtroom.
