Trent Grisham's two homers power Yankees past Mariners

The Yankees fell behind early against Seattle, but it didn't matter. Trent Grisham hit two home runs, Spencer Jones delivered in a couple of huge spots, and New York turned a shaky start into a laugher, beating the Mariners 10-5. Grisham finished with four RBIs and three runs scored, and it was the ninth multi-homer game of his career.

Seattle's Randy Arozarena and Julio Rodriguez had gone deep off Yankees starter Will Warren in the first inning to stake the Mariners to an early three-run cushion. But this Seattle team has been in freefall — the loss extended their skid to six straight, their longest since 2022, and dropped them nine games under.500 on the year. New York, by contrast, kept chipping away and eventually blew the game open.

Spencer Jones was right there with him. The rookie, playing in just his second start hitting third in the lineup, ripped a two-run double and later added a tying double to keep the Yankees within striking distance before the offense took over late.

Grisham's second homer, his 15th of the season, came as the Yankees pushed the score to 8-5 and turned a tight game into a rout. It was part of New York's first double-digit run output since a July 9 blowout of Tampa Bay, and the kind of statement win a team wants heading into the stretch run.

We’re having fun, this is fun

There was a bonus for Yankees fans watching the scoreboard elsewhere: the Red Sox lost for the fifth straight time, a skid Barstool's Marty Mush and others were happy to point out while the Bronx offense was busy stacking runs. Between Grisham's power, Jones' emerging bat and a bullpen that shut the door after Warren's rough start, it was about as complete a night as the Yankees have had in weeks.
