Internet Invitational 2025 Episode 2: Can They Make The Greatest Comeback In YouTube Golf History?

By JR·2 min read

TLDR: Riggs's team clinched Day 1 at 12½ points and sent Bob's 24 home, Bob, Jon Gruden and Luke Kwon among them. Bob's team won 5 of the 12 alternate-shot matches and halved another — Gruden and Kwon beat Borrelli and Broders on the 18th — but 8-4 down from the morning was too many.

Luke Kwon arrived for the afternoon to a sarcastic ovation (“Great job, Luke … get some lunch in you”) and a round of his own teammates telling him what they thought. He apologized more than once. Then Jon Gruden stood him up in front of the team.

“You helped us dig this hole. You're going to dig us out of this hole.” – Jon Gruden

Riggs's answer from the other room: “Luke's our best player, which is awesome so far.”

Riggs's team led 8-4 and needed 4½ of the afternoon's 12 points to reach 12½ and end it. One of his players called a 4-point lead a fluke and 4½ more a statement; Riggs said they were going out to get 8. He threw out himself and Cole Lantz first; Bob answered with Rick Shiels and Andrew Santino.

It nearly worked. Shiels opened with a dart, the match went down, up, down, up, and Shiels and Santino won the full point on the last hole. Gruden hit a pin-high approach he said made him think about turning pro, Borrelli missed the putt he needed, and Gruden and Kwon beat Borrelli and Broders on the 18th. Boucher and Cold Cuts came from 2 down to beat DOD King and Sara Winter, King putting with a driver “with 1.7 millie on the line.”

Francis Ellis and Micah Morris halved with Grant Horvat and Daltoosh, and Riggs's team led the day 9½-7½ with the late matches still out.

George Bryan and Chaz Bowker got the brothers' rematch back after losing it in the morning (“Y'all won the morning, we won the afternoon”). The Jet would not concede Trent Ryan a short putt, and Finch holed his to beat Ryan and Matt Scharff: “Best in the world.” The Duke and Josh Richards beat Bissonnette and Keith Yandle, who were going to take the last three holes and shock the world and instead conceded, “They wiped us … much respect.” Kyle Berkshire drove it about 100 yards past everyone in his group.

Then the count got there.

“12 and a half. It's over. Riggs's team has 12 and a half points.”

Bob, Gruden, Kwon, Whitney, Shiels and the rest of the pink team were out. Kwon's own count at the end: if he had woken up, they would probably have been a point short anyway.
