Big Cat answers critics of his Week 5 NFL power rankings

TLDR: Big Cat's Week 5 NFL Computer Power Rankings dropped Tuesday morning, hours after the Bills outlasted the Rams 37-34 in overtime, and he spent the next few minutes answering fans in the replies.

He posted the graphic, invited the argument and got it right away.

This is a weekly thing now. Big Cat goes through his top 10 and bottom 5 on Wake Up Barstool, and the graphic goes up on X for everyone to yell about. Buffalo has been at the top of it. On the Sept. 29 episode, after 4 weeks of football, he didn't even build suspense about who was No. 1.

“And then as you can expect, the Buffalo Bills are number one.” – Big Cat

Monday night didn't hurt the Bills' case. They went into LA on Monday Night Football and beat the Rams 37-34 in overtime, with Tyler Bass kicking the game-winner. That puts Buffalo at 4-1 and in first place, and drops the Rams to 2-3. So when people in the replies asked why the Bills are still sitting up top as a juggernaut, a road win over a team a lot of people had pegged for big things is a pretty good answer.

That's the classic Big Cat move when someone argues about one spot on the graphic: the team is ranked higher because it's ranked higher. The fans asking about the middle of the board with the Panthers weren't getting much more than that. Another question got an even shorter reply, just a screenshot.

@BarstoolBigCat How are the Bills juggernauts and not the Ravens? Same record… Bills looked so beatable last night

His method hasn't changed since September either. Back in Week 2 he put the 2-0 Raiders at No. 8 even though he admitted it probably wouldn't last, because he doesn't let preseason expectations cap where a team can land.

“I go power ratings off of what you've done recently and where you are as a team. I don't have preseason rankings.” – Big Cat

That's exactly why every Tuesday turns into a fight. If you rank on recent results, one Monday night can move a team around, and every fan base whose team is one spot lower than they think it should be heads for the replies. Buffalo gave him every reason to keep believing. Week 6 will settle a few of these arguments, start new ones, and there'll be a new graphic for people to pick apart.
