Big Cat admits his memorabilia buying might be a problem

TLDR: Big Cat faced up to his habit of buying obscure sports memorabilia on the October 30 Pardon My Take, weeks after showing off a chair Taylor Swift sat in at Cavs-Knicks Game 3.
The PMT crew taped this one in full Halloween costume, and somewhere between the bits Big Cat had to look at what he has been spending money on.

The moment Big Cat realizes he might have a problem when it comes to purchasing obscure sports memorabilia:
That's a costumed man finding out he has a problem in real time. If you've followed Big Cat this fall, the problem isn't news. It's been sitting in the office all month, and it's a chair. Taylor Swift sat courtside in that seat at Game 3 of the Knicks-Cavaliers Eastern Conference Finals at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. The Cavs then put the seat up for auction on The Realest, and it went for $7,000. Most people would call that a punchline. Big Cat apparently saw a centerpiece.

The bit is great because Big Cat doesn't apologize. In his telling, the Cavs lost that game "by a million," so he paid for a piece of a blowout because a pop star sat in it for one night. That isn't really an investment strategy. He just can't pass up something weird that brushed up against a big sports moment. On the Yak 2 weeks ago he got wistful about Milwaukee once having all 4 buildings the Bucks ever played in standing at the same time, and he wished cities would just keep iconic old stadiums around.
So it's not a phase. That's how a collector thinks: he'd keep Old Yankee Stadium if anybody let him. Thursday's episode showed the room is split on whether that counts as a sickness or a vision. PFT, naturally, landed on vision and went into full motivational-speaker mode about respecting greatness. Meanwhile a person in a full corn-cob costume lounged on the studio couch.

“It sounds like some people here respect greatness, and some people don’t. Anything that is adjacent to greatness can make us better. Let’s look for a reason why this is going to take us to the next level and not for a reason to put this down” -PFT “Are we pissing in this room?!” -Max “Yes!” -Big Cat
"Anything that is adjacent to greatness can make us better" is a very PFT way to defend spending real money on stuff other people sat near. It also works as a slogan for the whole PMT office. Then Max asks whether they're pissing in the room, Big Cat yells "Yes!", and the high-minded speech falls apart, which is about how every PMT argument ends.
What to watch for: whether the admission actually changes anything. Our guess is no. Big Cat said on air that he's "always in the market," the Swift chair is still in the office, and his own co-host just gave him a ready-made excuse for the next purchase. The next bizarre piece of sports history to come up for auction probably ends up at Barstool too, and PFT will be the one calling it greatness.
