Brandon Walker calls Indiana fans goofy on Mostly Sports

TLDR: On Mostly Sports, Brandon Walker called the Indiana fans on Twitter who only found football last year goofy, and Liam Blutman piled on by calling them the Purdue of college football fans.
The Wednesday episode went right at the Hoosiers' newest believers, and the clip was on timelines within hours.
Walker's target wasn't the Indiana lifers who sat through the decades of 3-9. It was the newer crowd, the people who found the sport once Curt Cignetti turned Bloomington into a playoff program and now patrol the replies like they've been there since the Hep years. Walker called that crowd goofy, and he did not say it politely. Blutman delivered the line that will stick: they're the Purdue of college football fans. That's a basketball school jab aimed at another basketball school, and in Indiana it's about as mean as it gets.
The Purdue comparison has history on the network, too. Earlier this month Wake Up Barstool ran a segment with Walker and Dave putting together dueling lists of the most starved fanbases in college football, and Purdue came up as the gold standard for a fanbase with nothing to hold onto.
The timing makes it sting more. Indiana had the longest winning streak in the country at 22 games, the longest since Georgia won 29 straight from 2021 to 2023, until Ohio State came into Memorial Stadium on October 17 and won 19-15. It was Cignetti's first home loss at Indiana, and it came down to Nick Marsh failing to get a foot down in the end zone on 4th-and-4. So the new Indiana fans have spent the last 2 weeks learning what losing feels like, and now they get to hear about it on a podcast.
“22 game win streak broken. Just proves how insanely hard it is to be perfect in college football.” – T-Bob
Indiana people were always going to answer back, and they have a decent case. Cignetti spent part of September on his radio show asking fans to get in their seats early, and they showed up: 54,493 came for the Big Ten home opener vs. Northwestern, and all 5 home games this season have drawn more than 54,000. One reply to the clip, tagged at Barstool, Mostly Sports, Walker and Blutman, simply sent the insult straight back.

@barstoolsports @mostlysports @clubtrillion @BFW @BFWshow @Blutman27 @VivaLaStool @RealCGriff @EBoKnowss @TJHitchings You're goofy as fuck
None of this changes anything on the field, but it's the kind of beef that writes its own sequel. The Hoosiers still have a playoff case to make over the back half of the schedule, and every win is another chance for the people Walker was talking about to come back to his mentions. If Indiana runs the table, expect the Twitter crowd to bring up the Purdue line. If they lose again, expect Walker and Blutman to bring it up first.
