Geography Grand Prix episode 3 drops on Barstool Nov. 4

TLDR: Barstool's Geography Grand Prix is back for episode 3, with 26 coworkers playing geography trivia for a prize that turns out to be a day trip to Wisconsin Dells.

Round 3 went live on the afternoon of Nov. 4, and the person running the show led with the prize, which is also the punchline.

That's the deal: 26 people in the building, 1 winner, and the winner gets Wisconsin Dells. It isn't Bali and it isn't Paris. It's the waterpark capital of the Midwest, for a day. The ellipsis in that tweet is doing a lot of work, and it's the right way to sell it. A trip that small is funnier than a real one, and it means everybody is grinding for a reward nobody would choose on purpose.

The format comes out of Drop A Pin, Barstool's geography show, and the Grand Prix is its office-wide competition. When the first one launched, the show billed it as coworkers going head to head on geography trivia until 1 person was left. Contestants write their answers on dry-erase boards in front of a green screen, the host flips through them, and anyone who whiffs has to own it on camera. Chaps pushed the new episode out at the same time.

Whiffs are the reason to watch this show, and episode 3 delivered one early. The question was about as easy as geography trivia gets: the Great Barrier Reef is off the coast of which country?

The Great Barrier Reef is off the coast of which country?

Ireland. As in the island in the North Atlantic, roughly the other side of the planet from a reef that sits off Queensland. The captions on the clip go straight to "GET THEM OUT," and honestly that's fair. The contestant who wrote it is laughing behind her hand, which is the right response, because no defense was coming.

That's what makes these office competitions work better than a polished game show. Nobody signed up to be good at geography, and the episodes are built around people realizing live that they have no idea where things are. With 26 contestants still having to be cut down to 1 Dells-bound champion, the Reef answer is probably not the last board that gets someone sent home.
