PFT Commenter and Big Cat want everyone waiting tables

TLDR: On the November 4 Pardon My Take, PFT Commenter said every human being should work at least 6 months in the service industry, and Big Cat called people who are mean to wait staff the lowest of low.
The day after Election Day, the Pardon My Take guys skipped politics and pitched the one policy nobody on the internet will fight them on.
The show's caption on that clip asked for a full year. PFT's version is a little softer. In the full quote he set the floor at 6 months, and he didn't sell it as punishment. He sold it as an education: it gives you 'very valuable perspective on the rest of your life moving forward.'

If I am ever elected president this is my platform

“Every human being should have to work minimum six months in the service industry… It gives you very valuable perspective on the rest of your life moving forward” -PFT Commenter “I cannot stand people who are mean to any type of wait staff. You’re just the lowest of low when you do that” -Big Cat
To be clear about who said what: the 'lowest of low' line is Big Cat's, not PFT's. Dan Katz said he can't stand people who are mean to 'any type of wait staff,' and that's about as close to a moral code as this show gets. PFT brought the policy and Big Cat brought the sentencing guidelines.
PFT then reposted the clip and called it his platform if he's ever elected president. That's a bit, obviously, and the timing on Election Day plus 1 is the whole joke. Still, as campaign promises go, a mandatory stint carrying plates and taking orders from someone who snaps their fingers at you is easier to get behind than most.
It's also a take that works because almost nobody argues with it out loud. Anyone who has worked a double on a Saturday knows the customer who treats a server like furniture, and anyone who hasn't probably needs the 6 months more than anyone. It's a small segment from a show that's been doing this since 2016, but it's the kind that travels, because half the people watching it have a story about a table from hell.
Don't expect a bill. Do expect the comments to fill up with bartender and server war stories, and maybe a few listeners quietly thinking back to how they tipped last weekend.
