Kayce Smith's Texas Tech pretender pick hits vs. Cincinnati

TLDR: Kayce Smith called Texas Tech a pretender on the Barstool College Football Show weeks ago, and Cincinnati proved her right Saturday, beating the No. 8 Red Raiders 37-24 for their first loss of the season.
Kayce went to the tape before the game was even over, pulling up the old segment that had Texas Tech sitting in her pretender column.
That's about as clean an I-told-you-so as you get. Texas Tech walked into Nippert Stadium 6-0 and ranked 8th, and the only thing they took home was a loss. The 'Sorry, Katic' on the end is the best part. An apology with a laughing emoji attached is not an apology. It's a victory lap with a friend stuck in the passenger seat.
The game was over by halftime. According to ESPN, Texas Tech actually led 6-3 late in the 1st quarter. Then JC French IV threw 3 touchdown passes in the 2nd, the last one a 2-yarder to Lyviel Waters with 5 seconds left, and Cincinnati went into the locker room up 24-6. Mintzy saw it coming and made sure everyone knew.

Cincy 24 Texas Tech 6 Half There are occasional strokes of genius in this brain still!
The Bearcats kept going in the 2nd half. French finished with a career-high 4 touchdown passes, Cole Tabb ran for a career-high 173 yards, and the Cincinnati defense forced 4 turnovers and kept Tech kicking field goals until a late touchdown. It was Cincinnati's first home win over a top-10 team since November 2006, when they beat No. 7 Rutgers, and it was Homecoming on top of that. For Dana Beers it apparently meant more than one win.

Can’t make this shit up man. Ever since I rooted for Cincy it felt like I was a curse. Now the week I say this they win the biggest game they’ve won in five years. The curse mightve been lifted
Take the curse talk for what it is: a guy who adopted a team, watched it lose and blamed himself. Still, he isn't exaggerating how big this one is. Cincinnati moves to 5-2 and 2-2 in the Big 12, and CBS Sports already has Texas Tech's first loss shaking up the Big 12 playoff race. And Mintzy got paid, with the Bearcats covering +11.5 by not needing the points at all.
Now we find out whether this was a fluke. Cincinnati hosts No. 10 Utah on Halloween, and if the Bearcats take down a 2nd straight top-10 team, Dana can stop calling the curse 'lifted' and start calling it gone. Texas Tech is 6-1 and still very much alive in the Big 12, so Katic will have a reply eventually. He just doesn't get one this week. This week belongs to Kayce.
