PFT Commenter and Big Cat rip NFL's Wembley corgi race

TLDR: PFT Commenter and Big Cat used a Pardon My Take segment to call the halftime corgi race at the Texans-Jaguars game at Wembley a disgrace and an underreported failure of the NFL's global expansion.

The NFL sent the Jaguars back to London and filled the halftime break with corgis racing on the Wembley turf. Pardon My Take did not think the field was up to standard.

Underreported disaster when it comes to global expansion of the NFL. The overseas halftime corgi races are uncompetitive whale shit

This is mock outrage, obviously. Treating the most harmless bit of filler on the London schedule like a league-wide crisis is the whole PMT formula. 'Uncompetitive whale shit' is a review you'd expect for a 3-and-out offense, and PFT gave it to a pack of short-legged dogs. Big Cat was right there with him on the segment and posted the same clip calling the London race a disgrace.

The football itself was not the problem. Houston beat Jacksonville 34-31 when Ka'imi Fairbairn hit a 49-yard field goal as time ran out, according to Sky Sports, so the London crowd got a walk-off finish. The corgis ran at halftime, and the Sky Sports presenters on the call looked like they enjoyed it a lot more than PMT did.

PFT then went back for a second helping, this time with fan footage from the stands showing the dogs actually running across the field next to handlers and the Jaguars cheerleaders.

The European mind can not comprehend a competitive corgi race. Possibly too much inbreeding?

The inbreeding line is PFT working 2 jokes at once: corgis are the royal family's breed, and European royalty has been an easy punchline for a few centuries now. He isn't reporting on how the crowd actually reacted. It's the same bit as before, that Europe can't be trusted with a proper corgi race.

There is a real NFL story underneath the joke. The Jaguars have more or less become London's team, and every trip over there is the league showing off how big it can make the game abroad, from the pregame to the halftime show. When that pitch includes a dog race that a couple of Chicago podcasters can call rigged, uncompetitive and embarrassing, they are going to do it, and the league probably loves the free ink. Next time the NFL books corgis, expect PMT to want a racing form, a betting line and a lot more speed in the field.
