StoolMintzy melts down over Ole Miss win, then defends it all week

Ole Miss beat Louisville 41-38 in Nashville on Sunday night, a Music City Kickoff that turned into a full-blown shootout, and by Monday the game itself had almost become secondary to Mintzy's coverage of it. He was in Nashville all weekend, and by kickoff he'd already set the tone for what was coming.

Once the game started, Mintzy did not stop. Halftime thoughts on Chambliss's turnovers and a bad snap, live win probability declarations, a Dolly Parton tribute shoutout before the 4th quarter — the man treated his own timeline like a broadcast booth. The game gave him plenty to work with. Louisville erased a 14-point deficit and actually tied it at 38 with 1:28 left on a Lincoln Kienholz touchdown run, before Ole Miss answered and Lucas Carneiro drilled a 48-yard field goal as time expired to win it. Mintzy's own celebration clip from the stands, teeth-gritted and unhinged, is basically the definitive document of how that final sequence felt live.

By the time he posted the actual final score, Mintzy had gone full main character. "W counts the same by 3 or 30," he wrote, giving Louisville its flowers while pivoting straight to the next game in Charlotte. Phill had literally set a betting line earlier that night for how soon the inevitable postgame content would drop.

The real story started Monday morning, though, once the takes rolled in. A win over a ranked Louisville team on a neutral field somehow turned into a pile-on, and Mintzy would have none of it. He fired back that Week 1 results are always weird, pointed to LSU's history of ugly season openers under Brian Kelly as proof that early results get overrated, and drew a direct comparison to Ole Miss's own 41-35 win over Arkansas last season — a game that also got sloppy before the defense cleaned itself up.

He didn't let up for the rest of the day, arguing that beating a top-20 team on a neutral site should count for something come playoff resume season, and floating that Ole Miss might never need to schedule a hard nonconference Week 1 game again given the SEC's 9-game slate. Whether or not the committee agrees with him in December, Mintzy turned one chaotic Sunday night into a 24-hour campaign for his own team's credibility — and honestly, it worked as content either way.
