Aaron Glenn gets his ball again as Jets trail Dolphins

TLDR: A week after his viral halftime gaffe against the Patriots, Aaron Glenn told CBS his offense was getting the ball this time, while his Jets trailed the 0-5 Dolphins by 14.
Miami came into MetLife without a win. It went into the locker room with 21 points.
Some background on why the halftime interview turned into a punchline before he even opened his mouth. Last Sunday, October 18, the Jets went to the half down 17-3 to New England, and Glenn told CBS sideline reporter Aditi Kinkhabwala, "The good thing is we get the ball. We get a chance to go move it and finish." They did not get the ball. The Patriots had deferred and took the second-half kickoff, and the clip blew up on X.
Glenn spent his Monday press conference pushing back. "No, I actually talked about just the offense," he said, explaining he had meant the next time his offense got the ball back and needed to sustain a drive. Fine. Plenty of people did not buy it. So when he stood in front of the CBS mic again this week and said the same words, he made very sure everybody knew he had the order right.

“The good thing is…. OUR OFFENSE is getting the ball” Aaron Glenn is right this week!
And give him credit, he got it right. The problem is what he got right. Knowing who receives the kickoff is the floor for an NFL head coach, and Glenn hit the floor while losing by 2 touchdowns at home to a team that had not won a game all season. The stress on OUR OFFENSE in the Barstool caption is doing a lot of work. Getting the ball is great. You just have to do something with it against the worst team in football.
Nobody who bets on this stuff expected a pretty one. On VSiN's Week 7 Beating the Book megapod on October 22, one of the hosts took the under at 39.5 and said what everyone was already thinking about the matchup:
“We have the two worst coaching staffs in the NFL in this game. We have the worst team in the NFL in the Miami Dolphins.”
That same pick had the Jets winning something like 21-13, with the host saying he'd be losing his mind over some ridiculous decision Glenn makes. Miami already has 21 at halftime, so the under is in trouble and the Jets defense, the one unit he trusted, hasn't shown up. The ridiculous-decision part of the call is on schedule, though.
So the second half is on Glenn, in the most literal way possible. His offense has the ball first, just like he said, and if they come out of halftime and go 3-and-out against an 0-5 team, the clip stops being a callback and becomes the whole story of his tenure. A second-year coach who has to defend his clock awareness on consecutive Sundays is not in a good spot, and the people running these clips know it.
