Katic leads Barstool College Football Show picks at 5-2

TLDR: Katic goes into Week 8 of the Barstool College Football Show picks race at 5-2 and is riding Alabama -13.5 vs. Texas A&M, while Dave Portnoy calls Ole Miss the best team in the SEC.

The leader of the BODYARMOR Flash I.V. picks went with the team everybody else is nervous about. Alabama has lost 2 straight, and Katic is laying nearly 2 touchdowns anyway.

Is there a world where Alabama loses 3 in-a-row? Katic doesn't think so, his @DrinkBodyArmor Flash I.V. Pick: Bama (-13.5)

That's a gutsy one. Bama is 5-2, most recently lost 26-10 to Tennessee, and has scored 27 points combined across its 2-game skid. Texas A&M comes into Bryant-Denny at 4-3. Taking -13.5 on a team that can't score is how a 5-2 picker turns into a 5-3 picker. It's also how you stay on top: you don't hit 5 of 7 by betting scared.

The standings graphic on the show has it Katic 5-2, Big Cat 4-3, Dave 3-3 and Kayce 3-4 through Week 7. Dave is 2 games back of the lead and went big on Ole Miss to make some of it up.

“Ole Miss I think they absolutely roll this week… I think they’re the best team in the SEC” - Dave Portnoy @DrinkBODYARMOR

Ole Miss's game this week is the big one in Austin. No. 7 Ole Miss plays at No. 19 Texas at 7:30 ET, Texas is a 3.5-point favorite and the total is 54.5. Big Cat is on Ole Miss +3.5 and Brandon is on Texas. So after a week of people writing off the Rebels, part of the desk is betting they're actually good.

BYU is not just undefeated, they're 6-0 against the spread. Kayce's @DrinkBodyArmor Flash I.V Pick

Kayce is in last place at 3-4, so riding the hottest ATS team in the country is the right move. BYU's win over Notre Dame last weekend was no fluke. On Wake Up Barstool the next morning, T-Bob ran through the top of the Big 12, from Texas Tech and Houston to BYU and Utah, and called it a great day for the conference.

“Texas Tech, Houston, BYU, Utah, fun. Top of the Big 12 championship game agreed.” – T-Bob

2 of those Big 12 contenders meet Saturday night, and Dave and Big Cat split on it. Dave has Utah -6.5 at home against Houston and Big Cat has Houston +6.5, with a 56.5 total for the 10:15 ET kick at Rice-Eccles. Dave also had a shot at the guy he's chasing in the standings.

Katic also had time for his Reese's GOAT of the Week, and he gave it to Mike Locksley. Maryland fired Locksley this week, his 8th season, after a 37-30 home loss to Rutgers dropped the Terps to 2-5. His buyout is about $9.7 million, and it has no offset, so he gets paid whether he takes another job or not.

So Week 8 goes like this. Katic can stretch his lead if Alabama finally scores some points. Dave can close the gap if Ole Miss proves him right in Austin. Kayce is hoping BYU stays perfect against the number. The Houston-Utah split kicks off last, so it might decide who's in 2nd when everyone wakes up Sunday.
