Dave Portnoy rips Michigan-Rutgers pass interference call

TLDR: Dave Portnoy put his lifetime 3-0 Megabus on Michigan -15.5 at Rutgers, then watched a 4th-quarter flag help the Scarlet Knights tie it 21-21 and declared the game under protest.
The day started the way Megabus days always start: confident, on a bus, and laying a big number on the road.
Laying 15.5 on the road at Piscataway was bold for a Michigan team sitting 4-3 coming into the day. Rutgers came in 2-5, and Dave knows that program's ability to wreck a ticket better than most: earlier this season he called Rutgers -29.5 against UMass his strongest play of the year, watched them lose outright and said the program should be disbanded. This time he was on the other side, and the cover went sideways early. Michigan kicker Trey Butkowski missed 2 field goals, from 48 and 35 yards, and Dave's patience ran out before the 4th quarter did.
Then came the flag. Michigan was up 21-13 in the 4th when the officials threw one on a Rutgers throw near the sideline, a defensive pass interference call against the Wolverines that kept the Scarlet Knights' drive alive. Dave didn't need a replay booth to rule on it.
There is no protest process in college football, obviously, and filing one from a Barstool account changes nothing on the scoreboard. What did change it came about 2 minutes later. Rutgers finished the drive with a touchdown and went for 2, and the conversion made it a brand new game.
A tie with 11:43 to go means -15.5 was dead with plenty of football left. Michigan found a go-ahead touchdown, and ESPN's box score had the Wolverines up 28-21 with 35 seconds left, so the team may escape with a win. The ticket won't. That makes 2 straight Saturdays of Michigan ruining Dave's weekend: a week ago Indiana beat the Wolverines and he went after offensive coordinator Jason Beck, and he opened Wake Up Barstool still steaming about it.
“The Michigan loss. That's as upset as I've been at losing a football game in a long time with the University of Michigan.”
So the Megabus is now 3-1 lifetime, the kicker is on thin ice and the refs are on Dave's list right next to Beck. A 7-point road win over a 2-5 Rutgers team won't calm anybody in Ann Arbor, and it definitely won't calm the guy who laid 15.5. Expect the rant to keep going on Monday's show.
