Dave Portnoy ranks Drake Maye 1st, Caleb Williams 2nd

TLDR: Dave Portnoy dropped updated QB power rankings built on who he'd want starting if the Super Bowl were tomorrow, and Drake Maye sits at No. 1 with Caleb Williams 2nd and Josh Allen 3rd.
El Pres says up front this isn't a lifetime achievement award. It's a right-now list, and the right-now list is a Patriots fan's dream.

Dave Portnoy Big Brain Updated NFL Qb Power Rankings. This is not a lifetime achievement award. If the Superbowl was tomorrow who do you want as your starting Qb. 1. Drake Maye 2 Caleb Williams 3. Josh Allen 4. Patrick Maholmes 5. Joe Burrow 6. Brock Purdy 7. Trevor Lawrence 8. Jordan Love 9. Matt Stafford 10. Jayden Daniels
Compare that to the list Dave put out in August, before a snap of the 2026 season. Back then Matthew Stafford was his No. 1, Maye was 2nd, Allen 3rd, Patrick Mahomes 4th and Caleb Williams 5th. So Maye climbing 1 spot isn't shocking. Caleb jumping from 5th to 2nd, past Allen and Mahomes, is the headline nobody had on their bingo card. And Stafford, who topped that August list as the reigning MVP, has slid all the way to 9th.
The Maye pick has a real résumé behind it, Boston bias or not. Coming into this year he was fresh off a breakout season with second-team All-Pro honors and a 2nd-place MVP finish behind Stafford. In August Dave still had him behind the guy who beat him for the award. Now he's decided the kid is the guy, full stop.

If the Super Bowl was tomorrow, these are the QBs who Dave Portnoy would want
The bottom half got reshuffled too. Joe Burrow moves from 7th to 5th. Brock Purdy and Trevor Lawrence weren't in the August top 10 and now sit 6th and 7th. Jordan Love goes from 10th to 8th, and Jayden Daniels, who was 6th in August (a spot fans called insanity at the time), falls to 10th. Jalen Hurts and Sam Darnold, both top-10 in the summer, are gone entirely. Lamar Jackson is still nowhere to be found. Dave said back in August he values playoff success and isn't a Lamar guy, and that hasn't changed.
The Caleb part is what'll get people going. Putting a Bears quarterback ahead of Allen and Mahomes on a who-do-you-want-in-the-Super-Bowl list is a big statement, and the Buffalo and Kansas City replies are going to be ugly. The thing is, the whole premise of the list is form, not legacy. If Dave's right about Maye and Caleb, they'll prove it in January. If he's wrong, the screenshots will stick around for a long time.
