Trent, Big Cat & Hank Take On Dana, PFT & Jerry

TLDR: Fore Play and Pardon My Take teamed up for a Chevrolet-presented 3v3 scramble, Trent, Big Cat and Hank against Dana, PFT and Jersey Jerry, and by Fore Play's own account it went off the rails quick.

The full match dropped Wednesday on Fore Play's channel, and the pitch doesn't pretend it was a clinic.

FORE PLAY x PMT. 3v3 SCRAMBLE. It’s Trent, Big Cat & Hank vs. Dana, PFT & Jerry… this one went off the rails QUICK Presented by @Chevrolet

Look at how the teams split. Trent is the Fore Play guy who actually plays golf, and he gets Big Cat and Hank. Dana, PFT and Jersey Jerry are on the other side. Neither tweet says who won, so we won't either. What both of them do say is that the round went sideways early, and the main Barstool account's promo opens with "No one said golf was easy." That's about as close as a sponsored post gets to admitting nobody's swing showed up.

The format explains a lot. In a scramble, everybody hits, the team takes the best ball and everybody goes again from there. That hides a lot of bad golf, but it also means you want at least 1 guy who can hit it a mile. Riggs said exactly that about his own team on Fore Play a week ago.

“We don't have one guy that can just pound the occasional drive, 330.” – Riggs

That's Riggs on the usual Fore Play scramble team of himself, Frankie and Trent, and he says they win by hitting it out there and making easy pars. This time Trent was the only Fore Play guy in the group. He's been working on getting longer, too. When the show asked about his swing earlier this month, he credited Kevin Kisner and Performance Golf.

“I'm hitting draws now. It's not perfect.”

So the matchup gave you Fore Play's best player, carrying 2 PMT hosts, against a Dana, PFT and Jerry team that is more chaos than golf. Put a camera on that and a sponsor's name on the thumbnail and "off the rails" is basically the whole point. Fore Play has been doing more crossovers across Barstool lately, and this one works because the audience wants to watch these guys struggle, not break par. The full match is on Fore Play's channel now. Watch it for the misses, not the final score.
