Kirk Minihane, Justin Trudell hash out beef on Out and About

TLDR: Kirk Minihane and his now-former producer Justin Trudell sat down together on Out and About, where Justin confirmed the beef started when Kirk said he had daddy issues.

Pat went right at the question everyone wanted answered: how did this thing actually start?

So that's the origin story, confirmed on the record. It wasn't money, a missed cue or a botched rundown. Kirk said his producer had daddy issues and that he didn't respect him. Justin heard about it, and the whole thing went public from there. It's about as Kirk Minihane as a falling-out gets, and Justin didn't bother softening it when Pat asked.

This has been building for weeks. Back on September 24, Kirk was already on his own show working through the fallout, saying people around the building kept picking sides and that listeners were weighing in too. He framed it as a referendum on him, and he wasn't wrong about that part.

“I say this, like you could take my side or Justin's side.” – Kirk Minihane

That's why getting both of them onto Out and About matters. Pat and Kelly's show is built on Barstool gossip, and this beef was the biggest gossip story in the building. Putting Kirk and Justin on the same episode turned weeks of sniping into an actual conversation. Pat even asked Kirk what Justin should do next, a question you don't ask unless both guys are ready to move on.

“What do you think would be a good fit for Justin here? What would you like to see him do?” -Pat Kirk Minihane:

Kirk being Kirk, he couldn't let it get too sincere. He turned the producer question into a roast of himself and everyone he's ever trained, and he named names.

“There is no worse coaching tree in history than mine at Barstool. It is Chris Klemmer, Justin Trudell and Mike Mutnansky” -Kirk Minihane

Chris Klemmer, Justin Trudell and Mike Mutnansky as the worst coaching tree in Barstool history is a great bit, and the laughter on the couch says it landed. It's also about as close to a peace offering as Kirk gets. He put Justin in the same sentence as 2 other guys he came up with, and he did it as a joke instead of a shot. Whether that holds up the next time Kirk opens a mic is another question. For one episode, though, the daddy-issues feud ended with both sides laughing.
