White Sox Dave caught lying on Brain Clash vs. Steven Cheah

TLDR: The 14th Brain Clash dropped Thursday on The Dog Walk, and the headline isn't who won a debate: White Sox Dave got caught lying, and Steven Cheah says he saw it coming.

Brain Clash is the monthly debate show where White Sox Dave and Steven Cheah argue opposite sides of up to 5 topics. This time the debating took a back seat.

I’ve said this for months, @barstoolWSD just simply does not understand hypotheticals

The Dog Walk didn't bury it. The episode is titled 'White Sox Dave Gets Caught Lying In Brain Clash Debate w/ Steven Cheah,' and the description says 'controversy strikes as WSD is caught lying.' Calling a show a debate and then putting the cheating in the title tells you which moment the guys think people will watch it for. It's all bits, to be clear. Nobody is filing a grievance over a Farmer's Dog-sponsored argument show. But in a format that runs on 2 guys defending positions, getting caught making stuff up is about the worst thing you can do.

Cheah came out of it with an I-told-you-so. He isn't treating this as a one-off. He's been saying the same thing about Dave for months, and now he has tape.

That complaint is a big deal given what Brain Clash is. The whole show runs on 'what if' questions where you take a side and argue it, whether you believe it or not. If Cheah is right that Dave can't play inside a hypothetical, then Dave has been fighting the format for over a year. Brain Clash goes back at least to June 2025, when episode 3 had them on What Makes You a Man and Pro Athlete vs. Rockstar. Brain Clash XIII ran September 3, so this is the 14th installment, and the running gag has now turned into an official controversy.

There's a small paper trail on when this one was made. A week before it dropped, Cheah was on Barstool Gambling's Quick Picks talking about his commute in, and the taping came up.

On Quick Picks on October 22, Steven Cheah explains he took the train in that day, and the Brain Clash taping comes up. – Steven Cheah

Nobody has said for certain whether that's the session that became Thursday's episode. Either way, the full hour is out now on The Dog Walk feed. Next month's Brain Clash has an obvious storyline: Dave shows up with a reputation to fix, and Cheah gets to cross-examine every answer he gives. If Dave fudges again, the 'he doesn't get hypotheticals' line stops being a bit and becomes his whole Brain Clash legacy.
