Dave Portnoy Tells Barstool Staff To Fund Own Vacation
TLDR: Dave Portnoy called into Out & About on Tuesday, sick by his own account, and said nothing stops Barstool employees from doing it themselves instead of Daddy funding a free vacation.
First, credit where it's due. Dave was sick when he showed up, and Kelly Keegs made sure everybody knew it.

Out & About is Keegs and Pat's show, and Tuesday's episode was a pre-Sox hang with Dave calling in by video. At some point the talk got to the idea of the company paying for a group trip for the younger crew. Dave's answer was the most Dave answer possible: if you want the trip, go do it yourselves.

If you've followed Barstool for any length of time, none of this is a surprise. This is a guy who started the company handing out a free paper, and his view has always been that the good stuff comes from people who go make it without waiting for permission or a budget. "Daddy funding a free vacation" is a great line because it's exactly how he sees the ask: a bunch of young content people want a paid trip and are calling it a content play. His point is that nothing is stopping them. Split a rental, film everything, and if it's good the numbers will show it.
He also wasn't taking any grief from the hosts. When Pat passed along a shot from Dan about Dave's shorts, Dave came back with the whole list: the 5K, the money raised, the pneumonia, and a dig about somebody else's guy getting hurt on a QB sneak.

So the youths got a no from the top, from a guy who was sick in bed. What happens next is up to them. Either somebody organizes a group chat, collects Venmos and books the house, or the idea quietly dies. The quickest way to prove Dave wrong is to go film the trip on your own dime and make it good enough that the company wishes it had paid for it.
