Dave Portnoy, Big Cat rank top 10 UConn and UMass alumni

TLDR: Before Friday's UConn-UMass game at Rentschler Field, the Barstool College Football Show ranked each panelist's top 10 alumni from the 2 schools, and Big Cat put Tyler O'Day at No. 1 over Dr. J.

Dave picked this game for the show himself, so he went first. His board was not exactly something either school's admissions office would hang up.

Dave Portnoy’s Top 10 UMass + UConn Alumni

The top of Dave's list is fair. Dr. J at No. 1, then Diana Taurasi, Meg Ryan and Richard Gere. Then it falls apart in the most Portnoy way possible: Bill Cosby at No. 5 and Aaron Hernandez at No. 6, ahead of Ray Allen at No. 7. Lil Brit, Paige Bueckers and Mut finish it off. Those 2 picks were never about résumés. They were picked to light up the comments, and Dave knew exactly what he was doing when he put them on a sponsored board.

Then Big Cat went the other way. Pretty much everybody would put a legend at No. 1, and he went for a deep cut. His board reads Tyler O'Day (UMass) at the top, with Rick Pitino at No. 2 and Dr. J only 3rd.

The list of notable UMass + UConn Alumni is stacked, but for Big Cat's top 10, it's all about No. 1. @vegas

The rest of Big Cat's 10 is Ray Allen, Braylon Mullins, Kemba Walker, Dan Orlovsky, Paige Bueckers, Serena Williams and Josh Boone. That Serena pick at No. 9 is the other bit. It's listed as UMass, and the clip accounts played along with the line that people forget she was enrolled there. That's a joke, not a transcript, so nobody needs to update her Wikipedia page. The O'Day pick is the real tell. Big Cat lined up all of UConn's basketball royalty and still went with a guy most of the country couldn't pick out of a lineup.

Brandon Walker's list went up last. It was by far the most normal of the 3, which on this show makes it the odd one out.

Brandon's top 8 are Dr. J, Meg Ryan, Rick Pitino, Richard Gere, Kirk Ferentz, Ray Allen, Diana Taurasi and Bill Pullman. Cliff Robinson and Marcus Camby look like his 9 and 10, though those slots are partly hidden on the board. Putting Ferentz in the top 5 is a very Brandon pick, since he's a college football guy all the way through. That makes 2 of the 3 visible boards with Dr. J at No. 1 and the 3rd with him at No. 3, which is about as close to a consensus as this panel gets. Kayce's column was still blank in the clips, so her list hasn't come out yet.

All of it was the warm-up for an actual game. UConn hosted UMass under the lights Friday night at Rentschler Field on CBS Sports Network. It was the 79th meeting between the 2 schools, and UConn came in on a 3-game winning streak in the series. The Huskies were 3-3 and the Minutemen 4-3, with UConn favored by around 2 touchdowns. Dave first pitched the trip after UMass started 4-0 and sold out its stadium for the first time since 2014. The Minutemen then lost 3 straight, which cooled things off, but he brought the show to the parking lot anyway and called it a bitter, bitter rivalry. Judging by these boards, the 2 fan bases now have one more thing to fight about.
