Shohei Ohtani homer cashes Dana Beers call in the Cave

TLDR: Shohei Ohtani crushed a 428-foot, 3-run homer off Dustin May in NLCS Game 4 vs. the Brewers, his first since August 18, and Dana Beers had the whole Barstool Cave riding it.
The Dodgers came into Thursday night down 3-0 in the series and facing elimination. Their biggest star hadn't left the yard in 2 months. Then the bottom of the 2nd happened.
That one was gone off the bat and Ohtani knew it. According to the AP it came off former teammate Dustin May, left at 113.1 mph, and ended a drought of 116 plate appearances going back to August 18 at Colorado. It was also the Dodgers' first home run of the whole series. For a lineup this expensive, getting out-homered by a Milwaukee team built on small ball is a stat that tells you how this NLCS has gone.
Over in the Barstool Gambling Cave, it was a cash. The crew was on Ohtani to go yard, and they're giving the credit to Dana Beers for making the call.
FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 2 MONTHS SHOHEI GOES YARD AND THE WHOLE CAGE WAS RIDING WHAT A CALL FROM @DANABEERS
It wasn't an obvious bet. On Quick Picks earlier Thursday, Steven Cheah laid out the case against Ohtani: an ugly postseason average, 3-for-21 over his last 7 playoff games, whispers about playing hurt, and a regular season where Milwaukee handled him.
“Even if you go back to the regular season, the Brewers have kind of had Ohtani's number.” – Steven Cheah
The injury talk turned out to be real. The AP reports Ohtani has been dealing with left knee and right biceps issues and hasn't pitched since early July, and he was hitting.182 going into the night. Dave Roberts shook up the whole lineup after Wednesday's loss, moving Ohtani from 6th back to leadoff and bumping Mookie Betts to 2nd. Roberts said he felt good about Ohtani 'taking five at-bats and giving us our best chance to win and produce runs.' Turns out it took 1 swing.
Ohtani doesn't usually show much on the bases. This time he let it out, screaming his way around the bases with the building going nuts behind him.
Even the booth got into it. Joe Davis hasn't had much to yell about this series, and the internet noticed him finally getting going on an Ohtani homer in October.
It still doesn't change the math much. Going for a 3rd straight title, the Dodgers have to win 4 in a row against a Brewers team that has been better than them all series. But if Ohtani is really back, a 4-0 lead in an elimination game is how a run like that starts. And Dana Beers gets to be a genius for at least one night.
