Mintzy cashes Oklahoma State bets in Nashville

Mintzy was all over the Cowboys from the opening kick. By the middle of the game he was already calling the Oklahoma State offense a wagon and thinking about a much bigger ticket.

That 50/1 Big 12 futures ticket, which he says he bought during the Oregon game in Week 2, gets more interesting every week. Oklahoma State is now 2-0 in Big 12 play, and Drew Mestemaker threw for 304 yards and 2 touchdowns against UCF. Mintzy wasn't happy just riding the full-game number, though. He was openly rooting for a UCF field goal so he'd get a better second-half line, and once the line came out he jumped on it.

It wasn't comfortable for a while. Oklahoma State led only 24-21 going into the 4th quarter. Then the Cowboys scored 18 straight points in the 4th: a field goal, a 28-yard fumble return for a touchdown by Evan Jackson and a touchdown pass to Wyatt Young. The final was 42-28, which covered the -10.5 and the second half with room to spare. Mintzy took his victory lap.

He also watched it in style. He's in Nashville for the weekend, and on the Yak earlier in the week the crew pointed out that the trip lines up with something much bigger to Mintzy than a road playoff game.

So Nashville it was, and judging by the footage, he wasn't keeping quiet about the Cowboys. "Raising hell" is the joke way to put it, but he really did have the mic.

Annika Christy has been documenting the day, and it's been rough on her. She says she could hear Mintzy from a different floor of the hotel while she waited for the elevator, and then he shut a car door on her leg getting out of the Uber outside the bar. On top of all that, every fan who walks up to them is there for him.

Sometimes attractive guys start walking up to us and I think to myself “oh I wonder if they’re coming to talk to me” and literally every. single. time. they go “what’s up Mintzy?!” 👧🏽🔫

The early slate wasn't perfect. Mintzy lost West Virginia +3.5 and admitted Arizona keeps burning him. Still, he's up 3 units on the Cowboys, the Big 12 future is alive and he's in Nashville for a Widespread Panic weekend. The ticket to watch is that 50/1. If Oklahoma State keeps winning, nobody in Nashville is going to get any sleep.
